BOAT & WATERCRAFT INSURANCE

Watercraft Liability: In most cases, you can add a watercraft to a homeowners policy. Depending on HP and length of the boat, watercraft liability can be automatically included under a homeowners policy. Liability for a watercraft will cover bodily injury and property damage caused by the insured boat owner.

Hull Damage: This covers the physical damage of the insured boat.

Medical Expense: Medical expense may also be included under a homeowners policy, depending on horsepower and boat length. This coverage will help pay the medical expense of the injured party that was caused by the insured boat owner.

Motor Coverage: In many cases, boat owners may itemize their boat insurance coverage's by the hull/boat, engine, and trailer. All three items can be insured under the same policy. Motor coverage covers the physical damage of the insured motor. (ex. damage caused by shallow water, motor being stolen, etc.)

Trailer Insurance: In many cases, boat owners may itemize their boat insurance coverage's by the hull/boat, engine, and trailer. All three items can be insured under the same policy. Boat trailer insurance will cover the physical damage of the trailer. (ex. damage caused by a covered peril, stolen trailer, etc.)

How to Insure a Boat: Watercrafts can be insured under a homeowners or renters policy if the engine horsepower and boat length is within the companies limits. If you have a boat with a high HP motor then you will most likely need a separate boat owner's policy.
